Prestwick tennis star Dominic Iannotti heading to Brisbane for the Global Games

An inspirational tennis star is heading Down Under in the hunt for gold.

Dominic Iannotti, of Prestwick, will compete in the INAS Global Games which start tomorrow.

The competition is the world’s biggest high performance event for athletes with an intellectual impairment.

Dominic has Asperger Syndrome and recently coached Prestwick duo Jack Dickson and Frances Smiley to two Special Olympic medals.

Now the 22-year-old is heading to Brisbane in a bid to take home a medal of his own.

Dominic said: “It’s an incredible event to be part of and we are all looking forward to the experience.

“I’ve been increasing my match practice and sessions at the gym so physically, I’m feeling great and ready for it.

“I’m expecting the Australians to be strong on home turf but we’ve got a great squad.”

Dominic is part of the five-strong Great Britain squad who head to Brisbane.

This is his second Global Games and four years ago in Ecuador he swooped bronze in the doubles.

Since then he has claimed European and World titles and he is now World No1 for both doubles and mixed doubles and No3 in singles.
