Prestwick dance and zumba instructor speaks on her recovery from coronavirus

A zumba teacher has spoken of her fight against coronavirus after being hospitalised by the killer bug.

Prestwick mum Fiona Young posted an emotional online video after first being struck down by symptoms.

We told how her plea had been viewed thousands of times after initially being shared on her Facebook account.

In the clip, she begged others to stay indoors and follow government guidance in a bid to stop the spread.

Now, after her being hospitalised following the clip, she has been speaking on the battle back to fitness.

Fiona, 42, is a well known face in South Ayrshire and runs her own dance and zumbathon classes.

Speaking on BBC Reporting Scotland, she said: "The tightness in my chest was getting worse.

"Everytime I stood up I was feeling light headed and thought I was going to faint.

"I had palpitations and my heart was racing."

Eventually, on day eight of her symptoms, Fiona phoned NHS 111 before being hospitalised.

She added: "I really thought I would be fine - I am absolutely not high risk at all, I have no underlying health issues, I'm a dancer and Zumba fitness instructor.

"When I first got the symptoms I was so worried for everyone else I had been in contact with.

"Many, many people have obviously had it a lot worse than me but I did have it pretty badly there for two weeks."
