A booming softplay centre has been crowned Scotland’s top attraction for children.
Family-run Kidz Play in Prestwick is celebrating after landing the prestigious prize.
Owners Marilyn and John Miller saw their popular business named best in Scotland at the country’s Hospitality Awards.
It follows eight years of hard graft for the couple, who have employed hundreds of workers at the seafront site during their tenure.
Marilyn, 47, said: “We’re thrilled to receive the award and it’s recognition for everyone who has ever worked here.
“We were named runner-up last year so to go one better is fantastic.”
The centre, which was ravaged by fire six years ago, saw an extensive refurbishment breathe new life into its business.
And it’s all culminated with the award of top children’s softplay centre in the country.
Marilyn revealed: “The fire was terrible and that sort of thing scars you for life.
“But we worked hard to come back from that and the centre is in great shape these days.
“We employ ten permanent staff along with 25 on part time contracts.
“And for most, it is their first experience of the world of work.”
She added: “We’re also committed to the inclusion of children with additional support needs and hold a special evening named “Spotty Zebras” once a month.
“Families with a child with ASN can enjoy exclusive use of the centre and meet other families to share stories, worries and concerns while their children play and have fun.
“And we’re very supportive of our local community and have been working to support the new Whiteleys Retreat by donating arts and craft materials and free admission family passes for families staying at the Retreat.”
