Workers at Prestwick Airport have agreed to call off strike action after winning a new pay agreement.
Staff had been set to down tools following a stand-off with management in a bitter row over wages.
Unite the union said bosses' refusal to pay shift allowances and meet the Real Living Wage (£9.90) rate for new starters had pushed their members to the brink.
A series of walkouts had been scheduled throughout the summer season.
But a renewed offer was tabled which will see all employees earning £30,000 or less receive at least a 6.5 per cent salary increase.
And following a fresh ballot, members have accepted the deal and agreed to ditch their strike action.
A spokesperson for Prestwick Airport said: “We welcome the decision by Unite members to support our pay offer, averting strike action and achieving a positive outcome for both our 300-plus staff and our customers.
“We are pleased to confirm staff will see their pay increase as early as next month.”
The renewed pay-off also includes the Real Living Wage for all employees, up to two per cent more employer pension contributions, improvements to allowances, increased annual leave entitlement, enhanced sick pay provisions and a one-off payment of £250 to help with the growing cost of living.
