Preston manager Alex Neil sends warning to Manchester City ahead of Carabao Cup clash

Preston manager Alex Neil has warned Manchester City that his team will take no prisoners during Tuesday night's Carabao Cup clash.

The Championship side welcome the reigning Premier League champions to Deepdale on the back of City 's record-breaking 8-0 victory against Watford.

Preston also picked up a win at the weekend with Sean Maguire scoring the only goal of the game against Birmingham to send the Lilywhites to 3rd in the table.

Despite City's excellent form, Neil has assured fans that his side will put up a fight against Pep Guardiola 's men.

"It’s going to be a tough test for us but we’re going to embrace it," he said during his pre-match press conference.

"They’re a frightening prospect, I’ve watched the highlights and it was 8-0 going on 15/16-0.

"It’s like a hurricane coming, you know what’s coming. We need to try and restrain them as much as possible.

"We’re not turning up to shake Pep’s hand and say thank you for coming to Deepdale."

Some teams may have hoped for an easier draw than the Premier League giants, but Neil is relishing the encounter and admitted he wanted to face a top side.

He added: "I don’t think there’s any pressure on us. They’re one of, if not the best in the world and operate at the top top level. They showed at the weekend if they turn up what they can do.

"We wanted one of the best or worst teams. We’ve got our wish and I hope I don’t regret it."
