Preston Island: body of man found in Firth of Forth prompts cops to seal off Fife beauty spot

A man's body has been pulled from the water near a Fife beauty spot by the Firth of Forth.

Police Scotland discovered the body at around 8:40am on Wednesday morning (5 August).

Locals reported a large police presence along with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

The Daily Record reports that a dog walker was prevented from entering the area as the scene was investigated.

Cops said they were working to identify the man.

They said he was wearing black Nike trainers, black 3/4 length Lonsdale jogging bottoms, a black Lonsdale hooded tracksuit top, and a Primark khaki green t-shirt with "DOWNTOWN" and the number "1989" written on it along with the picture of a skyline.

Cowdenbeath Inspector Gavin Cameron said: "If you have any knowledge about who this man is, or any information about why or where he went into the water, please call police on 101, quoting reference number 0602 of 5 August. We really want to let his family know what has happened to him."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8.40am on Wednesday, 5 August, 2020, the body of a man was discovered in the water at Preston Island in Culross.
