Preston defender Paul Huntington to miss Nottingham Forest clash after Derby County incident

Preston defender Paul Huntington will miss the clash against promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest after being handed a retrospective three-match ban by the Football Association.

The centre-back appeared to stand on promising Derby ace Louie Sibley during the 1-0 defeat to the Rams earlier this week.

The incident was missed by referee Jarred Gillett, but the FA has decided to punish the centre-back for violent conduct.

He will now miss games against Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and the home game against Nottingham Forest.

Watching the game in his role as a Sky Sports pundit, ex-Rams forward Darren Bent slammed the defender's challenge.

"He's got away with that there," he said at the time.

"That is a red card. "Look at that, that's a stamp. It is just so, so obvious!

"The referee should see that and nowadays players will get punished for that after the game.

"It's criminal to stamp on a young kid like that. It's so blatant. You do not want to see that."

Wayne Rooney's glorious free-kick settled the contest which left the Rams just one point outside the top six ahead of their clash against the Reds on Saturday.
