Presti praises Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, says he has ‘bright future’

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a big move in early July when they sent perennial All-Star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers. It signaled the beginning of a rebuild as the Thunder began to get younger and focus more on development and one of the young pieces the Thunder got back from the Clippers excites the Thunder brass.

Second year guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was one of the acquisitions from the Clippers in the George trade and general manager Sam Presti is excited about the young guard. He said he has a “tremendously bright future in this league” and they are “excited about who he is as a person”.

When the Clippers were introducing George on Wednesday in Los Angeles, Lawrence Frank praised the Kentucky guard and it hurt for them to have to move him in order to acquire George.

He averaged 10.8 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds while being named to All-Rookie 2nd Team in 2018-19. He also led the Clippers to the playoffs as the starting point guard when nobody expected them to make it that far. He showed off a lot of improvement as the season went on and he, rightfully so, has his new team excited.
