Pressurelicious: Megan Thee Stallion releases new banger with Future

Megan Thee Stallion has released Pressurelicious, a new track featuring Future, and it’s making waves across the internet as another absolute summer banger.

The track sees Megan return to more of a contemporary Southern style after she switched it up by leaning into a New York sound with her previous single Plan B.

And there are some Crunk bells in there too (Crunk is a Tennessee Hip Hop style from the nineties which has been enjoying a resurgence), making for a massive tune. Pressurelicious is mean, loud and potent.

The three-minute track sees Future and Megan exchanging bars, which makes the song even more dynamic and fun. With Megan from Texas and Future from Atlanta, it was only a matter of time before some kind of link-up between the two artists came to fruition. And the result is everything that fans could have hoped for.

Hundreds turned online to share their thoughts, with one fan Tweeting: “Sweetest pie, plan b, and pressurelicious sounding nothing like each other makes me so excited for and curious about the album because you don’t know what to expect next with each song.”

“Megan and Future really matched each other’s toxicity on pressurelicious, they fit so well,” said another.

“PRESSURELICIOUS SONG OF THE YEAR?” said a third.

“Pressurelicious is a BOP!” said another fan.

The track was released three hours earlier than expected because it was leaked.

“SINCE IT ALREADY LEAKED LOL PRESSURELICIOUS ft. @future OUT NOWWWWWWW EVERY WHERE,” said Megan on her Instagram.

Megan and Future also play into the fact that Future has become known as the toxic rapper in the new track. There was no exact turning point when Future was given this title, but he has been using it over the last couple of years, perpetuating the persona in Pressurelicious.

Toxic in this case means someone who is a little devious and even nefarious. They usually take people for granted, play with others’ emotions and are narcissistic.

“F**k me and call me toxic, She no different,” says the rapper in one of his verses.

“He say he toxic, I said, ‘Okay, well, I’m poison,’” says Megan in one of hers.

When Future released his ninth studio album at the end of April it was called I Never Liked You, only adding to his toxic image.

Megan’s first and only studio album Good News was released in 2020, but the rapper has been extremely busy ever since. She released Something for Thee Hotties (a compilation album) in 2021, ten singles in 2021 and four in 2022 including Butter (remix) with BTS, Sweetest Pie with Dua Lipa and Cry Baby featuring DaBaby.

The rapper performed at Coachella in April and at Glastonbury in June, with her performance being described as “flesh-jiggling naughtiness and immense star power” by the Standard. She also played at Finsbury Park’s Wireless Festival alongside Cardi B two weeks ago.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in mid-June about collaborating with Future for the first time in Pressurelicious, Megan said: “He just so f**king ratchet! He is unapologetically himself. I appreciate that about anybody who gets up and has to do anything in the public eye.

“Anybody who has to read about their life online every day and deal with so many energies and can put it out into their music and do it gracefully, I feel like you deserve your flowers.”
