Pressure placed on Premier League clubs as two week turnaround reportedly discussed

Premier League clubs have reportedly been advised there might be just two weeks break to separate this current season from the upcoming one.

Following the coronavirus pandemic the top flight has been indefinitely suspended with no return date currently scheduled.

But according to the Daily Mail, clubs are being told that with the 2020/21 campaign set to kick-off on August 8, there could be a short 14-day turnaround between the two seasons.

Even though it is not safe for football to return as of yet clubs are committed to completing the season and have been discussing potential return dates.

During last week's Premier League meeting, June was said to have been mentioned as a possible start-up month for football.

One possible outcome is that the season is concluded in July, leaving just a couple of weeks for clubs to prepare for the season opener in August.

It is suggested completing the season so late on could put a lot of pressure on players physically, as well as on medical staff.

The main concern is thought to be players picking up injuries with an onslaught of fixtures potentially set to be played out in a short amount of time.

It has also been claimed there would be no need for a pre-season with players prospectively set to find their fitness during the end of the 2020 term.
