'Pressure is now on' - West Ham fans frustrated as key man set to miss Manchester United clash

West Ham United fans were angry with Michail Antonio following his red card against Southampton and subsequent suspension.

Antonio and his teammates failed to capitalise on their excellent momentum in the Premier League and picked up just a point on their return from the international break.

It was a frustrating performance from David Moyes' side with the biggest blow coming right at the end of the game when Michail Antonio was handed a second yellow card and was sent off by referee David Coote for a high challenge on Mousa Djenepo.

The late booking means Antonio will now miss West Ham's crucial encounter against Manchester United next weekend.

And West Ham fans were quick to take to social media to vent their indignation at the forward and the performance.

@FPLHarry24: 'So, so, so angry with Antonio & Moyes. I watched the whole game and Antonio wasn’t his usual self imo. He looked very fatigued, yet Moyes continued to keep M.A on & subbed off Bowen (who was playing really well).'

@StephenJESmith: 'Well from the first four games we are unbeaten but now the real test begins. Europe Thursday, Man Utd Sunday, no Antonio for the league game, pressure is on for players to start stepping up & making a name for themselves. Hoping our season doesn’t start to derail from here!!'

@JamesSneddonWHU: 'A frustrating day for #WHUFC. The main concern is the players looking worn out. The counter-attacking system was there, but it wasn’t dangerous and looked slower than normal. Michail Antonio’s red card didn’t help either. It means that Moyes must make changes next week.'

@bobclark56: 'Started game flat stayed flat really , a game we should have won but could have lost near the end , always happy with any away point but today was a hard watch , and the Antonio red card sort of matched the performance. still unbeaten we go again.'

@jasoninge: 'Sloppy performance. Utterly stupid by Antonio for the red card. We tired badly in the last 15 minutes & the criticism that will never go with Moyes is to use 3 subs. Some of the players were on their last legs & it became too open late on as a result. Did well to get a point.'

Before West Ham face Manchester United next weekend, David Moyes' side will take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League in what is set to be a hectic month for the Hammers.

Antonio's suspension against Manchester United leaves Moyes with few options to chose from and the West Ham boss may have to tinker his formation for the upcoming fixture.
