Some of Northern Ireland’s top snappers have been recognised at the Press Photographer of the Year Awards.
The competition, which attracted more than 200 entries, came into focus at a gala dinner in Ten Square, Belfast, on Thursday.
With winners across eight categories, Mal McCann and John McVitty took Photographer of the Year and Provincial Photographer of the Year.
Among the other winners was the Daily Mirror’s Michael Cooper who earned a 2nd in Business/PR and a 3rd in Politics.

NIPPA President Freddie Parkinson said: “The quality of entries this year were very high and the judges had a tough job. I’d like to congratulate all those who won and thank everyone who entered.”
Judge Alasdair Baird, Daily Record picture editor, added: “There were a few arguments along the way, there were some outstanding images.”
