The Press Gazette's deal with the Press Association to sponsor regional newspaper adverts in the magazine raised some eyebrows. Now a blogger has gone public with his criticism. Les Hacks sees it as a "bizarre" decision, arguing that regional press owners "are still apparently making obscene profits" so why give them a helping hand? Then he comes up with a possible answer by suggesting that Press Gazette is trying to claw back the leakage of its ad revenue to holdthefrontpage.co.uk. Les Hacks concludes: "All a bit desperate really." (Via Les Hack)
