A US-based press freedom watchdog is in Venezuela to investigate complaints that the president Hugo Chavez is trying to silence journalists critical of his government. Legal cases have been brought against several Venezuelan journalists which, according to critics, were trumped up. A delegation from the Inter-American Press Association is also inquiring into the reasons that the journalist Patricia Poleo was forced to flee after publishing anti-government editorials. She was accused of murder, a charge she denies. (Via DominicanToday.com)
