As the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks passes today, several of the 22 candidates vying for the presidential nomination wrote commemorative messages on Twitter.

Republican frontrunner and real estate mogul Donald Trump said everyone should take a moment to “remember all of the heroes from a very tragic day.”

Earlier, Trump deleted a tweet from 2013 about the 9/11 attacks that had gained attention for his reference to “the haters and losers”. Although it is unclear when he deleted his 2013 tweet, a retweet of his original sentiment remains on Trump’s Twitter feed.

Ben Carson

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson tweeted a picture of Tribute in Light, blue twin beams that shoot up along the New York skyline, along with his campaign message to heal, inspire and revive.

Ted Cruz

Texas senator Ted Cruz tweeted a statement from his campaign in remembrance of the “people in the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the first responders who charged into save them”, the “military and civilian personnel in the Pentagon” and the “innocent passengers on those four doomed flights”.

Lindsey Graham

South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham tweeted an image of firefighters and said “Remembering brave first responders and 3,000 innocent Americans who lost their lives 14 years ago.”

Mike Huckabee

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee said, “We must do whatever it takes to keep Americans safe.”

John Kasich

Ohio governor John Kasich tweeted twice, remembering “all of those lost” and commending Americans who “always prevail”.

Jim Gilmore

Former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore sent a message honoring all those affected by the attacks.

Rand Paul

Kentucky senator Rand Paul tweeted a picture with the date of the attacks, and said those affected “will never be forgotten”.

Marco Rubio

Florida senator Marco Rubio offered his thoughts and prayers, and said, “America will not, and must not, ever forget.”

Rick Santorum

Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum tweeted a link to a National Review article on Islamic extremists.

Scott Walker

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker tweeted three times about the attacks, in honor of the victims and in recognition of the first responders “who sacrificed their lives to save others”.
