President Donald Trump is returning to Washington Monday night after warning residents of Tehran to "immediately evacuate" as the Israel-Iran attacks continue.
"Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "What a waste, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"
He later wrote, "AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"
Trump left the Group of Seven meeting in Canada a day early to return to Washington.
Earlier Trump said, "As soon as I leave here, we're going to be doing something."
Trump will meet with his National Security Council in the White House's situation room, Fox News reported.
Trump's Big Decision
Trump's comments and moves — along with massive shift of air assets to Europe on Monday — raise speculation that the U.S. is preparing to join Israel's attack to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Trump is mulling whether to help Israel destroy the Fordow nuclear enrichment facility, buried deep underground, the New York Times reported Monday night. U.S. America has bunker-buster bombs, delivered by B-2 bombers, that Israel lacks. This might be the only way to set back Iran's nuclear ambitions by many years.
But it would get Trump directly involved in another Mideast war.
On the flip side, Trump could trying to force Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions. The White House is mulling a U.S-Iran meeting this week to reach a nuclear deal and end the Israel-Iran fighting, Axios reported Monday night. Iran on Monday signaled a desire for nuclear talks to resume.
Early Monday, Israel urged residents of one Tehran district to evacuate. Huge traffic jams show that many residents are trying to flee Iran's capital.
Dow Jones futures fell modestly amid Trump's comments and actions. Crude oil rose a fraction.
