President Trump meets with NFL, hopes to have football on time

It is a tumultuous time for professional sports in the United States. The NBA, NHL and MLB are all shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the future of the NFL remains someone uncertain. Teams have tiptoed through the offseason to this point, next up being a heavily modified version of the NFL draft.

President Trump did a call with the heads of all major sports leagues on Saturday and when the topic of the NFL came up, Trump was optimistic with many caveats.

In reading over the story above it sounds as if the president wants things to be at a point where the NFL regular season can start on time but left it very open to not.

At this point, everything is speculation. Doctors and think-tanks all have ideas about when life can return to normal but there’s a huge difference between you being able to go into Taco Bell and eat your Burrito Supreme than 75,000 people packing a sports stadium.
