President Obama's entertainment stops in LA

March 13--President Obama's whirlwind tour of Los Angeles on Thursday includes an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in Hollywood and a fundraising event at the Santa Monica home of ICM Partners co-founder Chris Silbermann.

Obama has been a frequent guest of late-night talk shows, but this will be his first appearance on Kimmel's set. Obama last appeared on Kimmel's show via satellite during his first presidential campaign in June 2008.

But Obama apparently knows what he might be getting himself into. The president received the Kimmel treatment when the ABC late-night host was the emcee of the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2012.

At that time, Kimmel joked about Obama's name and the size of the president's ears. But the evening also included the two men high-fiving.

"The President is on #Kimmel Tonight, assuming everyone passes the background check," Kimmel's show said on its Twitter account Thursday.

Sean Penn will be Kimmel's other guest Thursday night.

After the show's taping, Obama is scheduled to head to what's being billed as an informal round-table discussion at the home of Silbermann and his wife, Julia Franz.

Silbermann, a longtime power broker, runs ICM Partners, one of Hollywood's largest talent and literary agencies. He helped lead the management buy-out of the agency, which was renamed ICM Partners in 2012.

About 25 people have been invited to the evening event, which will be held in Silbermann's living room. Tickets went for $33,400 per couple, according to the invitation. Proceeds from the event will go to help finance election operations for the Democratic National Committee.

Among the Hollywood luminaries expected to attend are producer Judd Apatow and his wife, actress Leslie Mann; television writer and producer Mara Brock Akil, co-founder of A Records Jerry Moss, and television agent Ted Chervin, also a partner at ICM Partners.

This is Obama's second visit to Southern California in the last two months.

Last fall, Obama visited to Los Angeles and attended a fundraiser at the home of Gwyneth Paltrow. Television producer Shonda Rhimes held a fundraiser at her home last June. "Scandal" star Kerry Washington served on the host committee for that gathering.
