'Presenter wars' on Good Morning Britain as hosts throw savage digs at each other

There were some rather savage digs thrown on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain as hosts Adil Ray and Alex Beresford faced off against each other.

There was a huge moment for the show's weatherman Alex when he sat in the host's chair for the first time at the end of last week

And Adil, who who has been a regular stand-in for Piers Morgan during his outspoken colleague's summer break, couldn't resist getting a little jibe in.

He quipped: "‘I don’t think you should ever come into the main chair, you kind of forget the job you’re supposed to be doing. You’re very good at that."

Not letting him get away with that, Alex retaliated: "‘It’s a bit like when the producers feed Adil the questions live in his ear."

Looking on, ITV colleague Charlotte Hawkins jumped in to chime: "You're letting out all the secrets of how we do all these things!" before trying to move things on, adding: "‘Shall we get on with the main news this morning?’ and describing her co-stars' spat as 'presenter wars'.

"Going really well this," Adil joked. "We’re all getting on really well."

Viewers were quick to wade in on Twitter with one, firmly Team Alex, reacting: "Just get rid of Adil. Let Alex do the weather at the desk," while another tweeted: "Bring back Alex on the main news on #gmb & have Adil do the weather. Swaps. Just my opinion."
