Prep star Jalen Lecque works out for Thunder, hoping to forgo college

It’s time to prepare for the NBA Draft for the Oklahoma City Thunder and they’re beginning to look at options for June 20.

On Saturday, they worked out prep star Jalen Lecque who is attempting to go from high school to the NBA. Lecque had to get creative to get around the NBA’s age limit on the draft as he was a fifth year high school student at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

He participated in the Draft Combine in Chicago and he still has the option of taking a full ride scholarship to North Carolina State.

Jalen Lecque, who also participated at the combine, played at the New Hampshire prep school Brewster Academy as a fifth-year high school student last season. He still can withdraw from the draft by the May 29 deadline and fulfill a scholarship awaiting him at North Carolina State.

Lecque, a 6-3 guard from New York, was a top-35 recruit in the 2019 class. He apparently performed well enough Thursday, recording the event’s top vertical leap of 43 inches, and opted out of Friday’s scrimmages.

Due to his freakish athletic ability, he has earned the nickname “Baby Westbrook” in comparison with the Thunder superstar.

The Thunder have just one draft pick in next month’s draft at No. 21 overall and time will tell if they truly believe he is worth a first round pick.
