Premiership Rugby today confirmed Simon Massie-Taylor as their new chief executive.

He joins from the RFU, where he spent five years as chief commercial and marketing officer. Massie-Taylor has also worked for the British Olympic Association and the local organising committee for London 2012.

Massie-Taylor said: "I’m very proud to be joining Premiership Rugby at such an exciting time for the Gallagher Premiership.

“Last season was an incredible one to watch as a fan, particularly the unforgettable final at Twickenham, and the current season has already provided some hugely entertaining rugby.

“As we emerge out of the Covid period it’s an important time for our sport. I am looking forwards to investing behind our product, working together with the talented team at Premiership Rugby, our clubs, owners and investors.”

PRL have been looking for a chief executive since the conclusion of Darren Childs’ ill-fated two-year spell in charge in April. Childs is now an advisor for private equity firm CVC, who have a 27 per cent share in English rugby’s top flight.
