Premiership Rugby coronavirus testing returns 10 positive results; six players and four non-playing staff

Six players and four non-playing staff members have tested positive after the first round of Premiership Rugby’s coronavirus testing.

In total on Monday, 804 players and club staff were tested as part of the Premiership’s screening programme.

Of those tested, ten people have tested positive for the coronavirus - with six of those being players and four non-playing staff.

Players or club staff who have tested positive and their close contacts will now isolate and be assessed in line with the PHE-agreed guidelines.

Premiership Rugby and the RFU explained on Wednesday they are providing this aggregated information for competition integrity and transparency.

No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided. The number of positive results will be made public after each round of testing.

The Premiership season was suspended in March due to Covid-19 and Premiership Rugby hopes to resume the league on the weekend of 15 August.
