Premiership attendances laid bare as Rangers, Kilmarnock and Celtic rise but there's bad news for others

Steve Clarke said as much when he claimed his greatest achievement at Kilmarnock was bringing the feelgood factor back to Rugby Park.

Not content with third place, a spot in Europe and accumulating the most points out of the whole league in the calendar year of 2018, Clarke has repeatedly said seeing fans flock back has been the most satisfying aspect of his time in charge.

Now the 55-year-old's stunning 19-month spell in charge at Rugby Park might be over after he accepted an invite to salvage Scotland's battered reputation.

But his work in dragging the Ayrshiremen from the bottom of the table when he took over in October 2018 to third place and a European spot last weekend saw the Killie faithful walking tall again after years in the doldrums.

That fact is reflected in the annual Premiership attendance table which shows Killie's average home crowd jumped a whopping 28 per cent year on year.

Kielty said during the conference: "Whenever we had peace here we thought if we move on to a Glaswegian level of sectarianism that is fine" (PA)

Only Livingston - buoyed by their return to the top flight - enjoyed a bigger spike.

In total seven top-flight sides including Celtic and Rangers enjoyed a boost to their home attendances in 2018/19 including St Mirren who were also promoted 12 months ago.

But there was some bad news for three of the country's biggest clubs as they saw crowds take a tumble.

In total Premiership attendances jumped almost 10,000 from 3,632,642 to 3,642,272 in the past 12 months.

Here's how the year-on-year average attendance table looks ranked from percentage increase:
