Aston Villa midfielder Jota rejected a move to Nottingham Forest in January, according to a report.
The Spaniard is said to have had the chance to go out on loan to the Reds, Championship promotion rivals Fulham and Scottish giants Celtic, but opted to remain at Villa Park.
Jota made the move to Villa last summer from Birmingham City but has struggled for game time with the Premier League side.
He has made just 13 appearances across all competitions and started only four top-flight matches - with his lone goal coming in a League Cup victory over Brighton, back in September.
However, he is seemingly determined to fight for his place in the West Midlands.
The Athletic report he turned down the chance to head elsewhere in the winter window - including to the City Ground.
It is said he always dreamed of playing in English football’s top tier, “where he could proudly say that he was a Premier League player”.
The report adds: "It’s why he rejected loan moves to Scottish title-bound Celtic and Championship promotion-chasing sides Fulham and Nottingham Forest in January to fight for his place.
“He had made 12 appearances in all competitions for Villa when those other clubs came calling and while the promise of more game time appealed, giving up on his Premier League dream so soon didn’t, and Jota made it his aim to be involved more often.”
The 29-year-old has been involved once since the season restarted, coming off the bench late on in Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.
Forest brought in four players in January, signing winger Adama Diakhaby on loan from Huddersfield Town, recruiting Nuno Da Costa and Gaetan Bong, and bringing back Tyler Walker from his loan spell at Lincoln City.
