Premier League wage bills revealed with Leeds United 19th in table

Leeds United’s spending on wages is currently more than only Brentford across the entirety of the Premier League, according to Spotrac.

With a total of player payroll of £17,926,800 per annum, the Whites rank 19th in the player wages table, which is just under £200 million less than what first place Manchester United fork out.

Norwich City, who have amassed just two points on their return to the top-flight, also spend almost £7 million more than Leeds.

Over half of Leeds’ player wages is currently going on the attackers, with the likes of Daniel James, Raphinha and Rodrigo all likely to be on big money given that they have all been signed since being in the Premier League.

Patrick Bamford, who was also reportedly one of the club’s highest paid players in the Championship, is also likely to bump that figure up given that he was recently rewarded with a new five-year deal in August following his excellent season last year.

The outfield area that Leeds currently spend the least amount of wages is in the midfield, with a total of £2,353,000.

That is comfortably the lowest in the division, with 20th place Brentford shelling out over a third more than the Whites, which is perhaps reflective of the lack of investment in that area of the field in recent transfer windows.

This table makes Leeds’ ninth placed finish last season look all the more impressive given the levels of cash invested elsewhere in the league.

Everton, who spend four times more than Leeds on wages, ended last season below Marcelo Bielsa’s side, highlighting the quality of the job he has undertaken in recent years.
