Premier League transfer update: Arsenal set for two medicals, £100m+ Spurs spending spree

The transfer window in the Premier League has just a few hours to remaining and there are already plenty of rumours floating around, with a number of exciting deals on the horizon.

With plenty buzzing around, we’ll dig right in with the 9am transfer rumour update. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Arsenal set for two medicals

The Gunners are not usually active on Deadline Day but this year looks set to be different, as two defenders are poised for medicals and set to complete switches before the 5pm deadline.

Kieran Tierney, after a transfer saga that has dragged on throughout the summer, looks set to finally complete a £25m move to North London from Celtic.

On top of that, David Luiz is also poised to complete a surprising move across the capital from Chelsea.

Spurs chasing three

Tottenham are also ensuring that North London will be the busiest area of the country, as they chase three Deadline Day arrivals - which could total in excess of £100m.

The most likely addition is Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, in a £25m deal rising to £30m with bonuses, but they are also looking to finalise an exciting deal for Juventus star Paulo Dybala.

He might not be the only Argentine through the door, as widespread reports also state they are chasing down Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso.

Burnley approach Drinkwater

Burnley have made an approach to sign Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea, according to Sky.

The former Leicester City man is out of favour at Stamford Bridge and a move could offer more regular first-team football.

Leicester close in on Praet

Leicester City have agreed a fee with Sampdoria for Dennis Praet and the Serie A side’s manager has confirmed his departure is imminent.

“I will miss Praet, he’s one of the best midfielders in Italy.

“Now we’ll see what to do in midfield and attack, where we have very few alternatives.”

Man City set for surprise addition

Scott Carson anyone? Manchester City are set to bring the experienced goalkeeper in from Derby County on loan to act as back up to Ederson and Claudio Bravo.

The well-travelled England international would arrive as a replacement for Arijanet Muric, who joined Nottingham Forest on loan earlier this summer.

Aston Villa ‘make record-breaking bid’

We finish with a more speculative rumour from the continent which is gathering pace, which states that Aston Villa have made a €32m bid to sign Wissam Ben Yedder from Sevilla.

That fee, which equates to around £29m, would surpass the club-record fee set earlier this summer to land Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge.
