It’s the final day of the domestic-only transfer window, and for Newcastle United, it’s the final chance to bring new players in from the lower leagues.
After the cut-off point - which is at 5pm this evening - Steve Bruce will then have to wait until the January window to add to their squads.
Unsurprisingly, there are a number of rumours concerning Premier League clubs on the final day, with plenty of unresolved business.
Here are the latest Premier League transfer rumours.
Bruce expects quiet deadline day
Newcastle manager Bruce is not expecting much action on the domestic transfer deadline day, he confirmed in his pre-match press conference.
Rolando Aarons has been linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, but the Magpies boss does not expect many incomings or outgoings before the 5pm cut-off.
Bruce said in his pre-Manchester United press conference: “One or two enquiries but that’s about it, really.
“It’s disappointing for the lads who obviously need to go and play so we’ll see what happens in the next few hours, but I would doubt it.”
Arsenal and United to battle it out for defender
Arsenal and Manchester United are set to battle it out for Villarreal defender Pau Torres in January, according to Todofichajes.
The 23-year-old is attracting interest from the Premier League duo after impressing in La Liga for the Spanish side.
Villarreal are willing to let the £35m-rated defender leave the club, with a January move on the cards.
The report states that Arsenal are looking at signing Torres, but that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also holds an interest in his signature.
Benrahma fails West Ham medical
Brentford winger Said Benrahma has failed a medical at West Ham United, according to the Mirror.
Benrahma looked all set to be moving to the Premier League after a summer window full of rumours regarding his future.
The report states that the deal is “not completely dead”, and the player could leave for a fee “considerably less” than initially agreed.
The issue was to do with blood tests, which have now been submitted for reinvestigation, as the Irons look to push through with the signing.
Chelsea place Dybala on radar
Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is on Chelsea’s radar, with his future in Turin uncertain, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Italian outlet are claiming that Dybala is in talks over a new deal with the Old Lady, and the Blues are keeping tabs on the Argentine’s situation.
The 26-year-old has only made one appearance under new manager Andrea Pirlo this season, and appears to be out-of-favour.
Manchester United and Tottenham have held an interest in Dybala in the past, but Chelsea look like the club most interested this time.
Pogba contract decision
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Paul Pogba will stay at Old Trafford for another two years.
The France midfielder’s deal in Manchester was due to expire in the summer, with mass speculation regarding his future at the club.
Solskjaer said: “Paul is our player, he is gonna be here for another two years.
“Paul is focused on doing his best for us. In the next couple of years, I’m sure we’ll get the best out of him.”
