Premier League transfer rumours: Newcastle make Man Utd enquiry, Man City target Bayern duo

As we approach the summer transfer deadline, these last five days will be extremely busy in terms of incomings and outgoings for certain clubs.

Newcastle United, according to various reports, are still looking to be active as we get closer to Monday’s 11pm international deadline.

Here are the very latest transfer rumours concerning the Magpies, as well as their Premier League rivals.

Newcastle make enquiry over Man United defender - report

Newcastle have made an enquiry about the situation of Manchester United defender Phil Jones, The Telegraph reports.

After Steve Bruce’s side saw a deal for Rob Holding collapse, the Magpies boss has had to turn his attention elsewhere in order to bolster his central defensive options.

Jones has been the subject of an enquiry, as well as his United colleague Chris Smalling - who impressed last season on loan at Roma.

With Bruce being a former United player, the connections may be there, and if there was an opening to sign him, the Newcastle boss could be interested, as the Chronicle revealed earlier this month.

United ‘ask’ about Jovic loan deal

Manchester United have enquired about signing Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic on a loan deal, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The Serbian forward only joined Madrid last summer, but failed to make a real impression during his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, according to the publication, Jovic’s most likely destination will be Italy - with Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan all offering ‘firm proposals’.

Madrid and the player’s representatives have agreed that his destination will be where he is most likely to be guaranteed first-team football.

City identify two left-backs as targets

Manchester City have identified Bayern Munich defender David Alaba and Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico as targets before the window shuts in less than a week.

That’s what the Daily Mail are reporting, with the British outlet claiming that Pep Guardiola’s side are waiting to find out the future of Aleks Zinchenko before making any moves.

Alaba has been on City’s radar in the past, and the 28-year-old would fit the bill of the club, with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealing that the side is after more experienced players.

Likewise, Tagliafico - who is the same age - and the Argentine defender has also been looked at by the Citizens.

Burnley leading chase for Wales winger

Burnley are leading the chase for Liverpool and Wales winger Harry Wilson, according to a report on Lancashire Live.

The report claims that the Clarets are very interested in the 23-year-old - who spent last season out on loan at Bournemouth - and are hoping to seal the deal before next Monday’s deadline.

Some reports are suggesting that Sean Dyche’s side have already made a £12m (plus £4m add-ons) offer for Wilson, but the Reds are holding out for £15m.

As it stands, Wilson does not look like he’ll be part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season, especially with the new £45m signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves.
