Premier League transfer rumours: Man City tipped to beat Chelsea to striker as Sancho stance set

The ongoing global coronavirus pandemic has seen all football in England brought to a sudden halt, including the Premier League.

That has meant that the backpage headlines are being taken up by transfer rumours.

There’s no shortage of that today, either, with more Premier League transfer gossip from newspapers around Europe.

That includes the latest rumours involving Chelsea, Tottenham and other clubs.

Coronavirus: How has sport been affected?

Here are some of the Premier League transfer rumours for Sunday, April 12.

Harry Kane decision made

Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of selling Harry Kane to Manchester United or any other Premier League rival this summer, football.london understands.

Kane has been strongly linked with a move away ahead of the summer transfer window, after Spurs' top goalscorer recently left the door open to a possible move.

But amid reports that Tottenham could be willing to sell Kane for £200million, it is understood that they would not be willing to sell the England captain to Manchester United, or any other Premier League rival.

Man City favourites to sign Martinez

According to the Sun, Manchester City are set to beat Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona to the signing of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The report states that the Premier League champions are set to break his buy-out clause of £97.5m once the coronavirus pandemic comes to an end.

Chelsea are also big fans of the Argentine striker, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also interested in the 22-year-old.

Martinez has scored 16 goals for Inter this season, and City see the striker as a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero.

Liverpool tried signing Odegaard last summer

According to Martin Odegaard’s former manager Leonid Slutsky, Liverpool tried to sign the 21-year-old last summer.

The Real Madrid youngster is currently out on loan at La Liga rivals Real Sociedad and has impressed during his spell.

Odegaard has spent the last three seasons out on loan from Madrid, and his manager when he was at Vitesse Arnhem, Slutsky, has revealed that the Reds tried to sign the Norwegian.

“His time at Vitesse has been very important. He became one of the best players in the Eredivisie and had many offers in his pocket. Not only from Real Sociedad, but also from Liverpool and Ajax,” Slutsky explained, as quoted by the Metro.

Reds priced out of Sancho move

Liverpool have been priced out of a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, with the Reds having no intention of getting into a bidding war with Manchester United.

That’s what Football Insider are reporting, with the England winger set to cost more than £100m after a sensational season in the Bundesliga for Dortmund.

The report suggests that Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 20-year-old but the Reds are not willing to pay what Dortmund want for Sancho.

This means United are in pole position for the former Manchester City academy star, who has also been linked with Chelsea, and have the funds to meet his valuation.
