Premier League transfer rumours: Liverpool open Ozan Kabak talks, Chelsea still want Declan Rice

Premier League clubs will be able to do transfer business again in just over two months and the rumour mill is continuing to spin.

After a strange summer window - for a variety of reasons - the majority of each team’s focus is now on the on-the-pitch action.

However, behind the scenes, there is plenty of business still happening and today is no exception.

Here are the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

Liverpool open talks with defender

Liverpool have opened talks with Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak ahead of a January move, according to the Mirror .

The Reds have told the German club that they want to take the Turkish defender to Anfield after losing Virgil van Dijk to a serious injury.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a huge admirer of Kabak, and his side would’ve bid for the 20-year-old in the summer if they weren’t restricted in their funds due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Schalke want £30m from Liverpool for their young centre-back, and the Premier League side could offer £20m up-front with further add-ons.

Chelsea still chasing Rice deal

Chelsea are still very interested in signing West Ham United star Declan Rice, according to the Daily Star .

The Blues were keen on bringing Rice to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but were unwilling to pay the Hammers’ £80m demands.

The 21-year-old is set to be offered a new contract by the Irons in the near future, which could end Frank Lampard’s hopes of signing the England midfielder.

According to the report, Lampard “dreams” of signing Rice for his Chelsea team - where he has already spent big.

Leeds eye Wigan starlet

Leeds United want to sign Wigan Athletic talent Sean McGurk, despite having a bid turned down in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to The Sun, who are reporting that the Latics turned down the bid from the Premier League side as they thought they were losing too much young talent.

However, the Whites are planning to move for McGurk again in the near future, and he could join former Wigan youngster Joe Gelhardt at Elland Road.

Gelhardt - who is 18 - is yet to make a senior appearance for his new club, but has been eyed as one for the future.

Leicester lead race for Moore

Leicester City are winning the race to sign Reading captain Liam Moore, according to Team Talk .

The Foxes are currently winning the battle, according to the report, but West Ham United, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton are also keen.

Moore came through the Leicester academy, and now Brendan Rodgers’ side are keen on bringing him back to the King Power Stadium.

The 27-year-old is now seen as one of the strongest defenders in the Championship and has been key in the Royals’ impressive start to the campaign.
