Premier League transfer rumours: Liverpool in £45m swoop, Man United agree defender deal

The 2020-21 season is now well and truly under way - and the summer transfer window remains open for business.

The window partially closes on October 5, followed by a domestic-only window, running until October 16, during which Premier League clubs can only trade with their EFL counterparts.

While fans can enjoy the action on the pitch once again - albeit from the comfort of their own homes in most cases - they will also be keeping a close eye on the transfer market.

A host of big-money deals have already been done, with plenty more in the pipeline.

Here is a run-down of the latest transfer news and speculation involving Leeds United and their rivals...

Liverpool land Jota

Diogo Jota is set to join Liverpool from Wolves in a deal that could be worth up to £45million.

The Portuguese forward has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions.

The 23-year-old was expected to undergo a medical on Saturday before officially completing his move to Anfield.

Wolves, meanwhile, have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever.

The 18-year-old Dutchman has swapped Anfield for Molineux for an initial fee of £9million, which could rise to £13.5m with add-ons.

United 'agree' Telles deal

Manchester United are reported to have struck a deal to sign full-back Alex Telles from Porto.

The Brazil international has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract at Old Trafford, according to RMC Sport.

Telles was previously linked with a move to Chelsea before they signed Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

Now it looks like he could become United's second summer signing following the arrival of Donny van de Beek.

City target Kounde

Manchester City are said to have identified Sevilla defender Jules Kounde as a possible alternative to Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Daily Mail reports that City are looking at 21-year-old Kounde after Napoli demanded £70million for Koulibaly.

Kounde recently said in an interview: “I am a Sevilla player, I’m fine here.

"There is a phrase that we repeat a lot and sometimes it seems that it is said without thinking, but the reality is that in the world of football we never know what will happen.”

Barca fail in Aarons bid

Norwich City have turned down a bid from Barcelona for defender Max Aarons, according to reports.

Sky Sports say the Spanish giants wanted to sign the England Under-21 international on loan but the Canaries were not prepared to let him go as there was no obligation to buy as part of the deal.

Aarons apparently agreed personal terms but Barcelona will now turn their attention to Ajax's Sergino Dest.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-German are both also said to be keen on Aarons.
