Premier League transfer rumours: Gareth Bale to Tottenham boost, Liverpool make Thiago decision

Spurs lead Bale hunt

Tottenham have moved ahead Manchester United in the hunt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, ESPN reports.

The Wales international is being eyed for a return to North London after Jose Mourinho made it clear that he needs attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes next month.

It’s stated that movement to sign Bale has already started, whereas United are still focusing on signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund - although that saga may come to an end imminently with the club not prepared to meet the German side’s lofty demands.

Man City make Gimenez offer

Manchester City have tabled an €89m offer for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez, reports from AS state.

The Uruguay international is being targeted as potentially the second central defensive recruit for City this summer, following on from the signing of Nathan Ake from relegated Bournemouth.

City’s offer also includes a further €5m in bonuses but Atletico are standing by the South American’s release clause, which stands at €105m.

Liverpool delay Thiago swoop

Liverpool are delaying a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara until the final week of the transfer window, TalkSport claims.

The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Jurgen Klopp’s side and Manchester United touted as two potential destinations for the former Barcelona man.

However, Liverpool are delaying a move as they’re looking to negotiate the best possible deal for Thiago, who sees his contract with the Bundesliga champions expire next month.

Arsenal consider Torreira loan

Arsenal will consider loaning out Lucas Torreira for the season as the race for his services intensifies, The Guardian states.

The midfielder is reportedly available for a fee of around £18m this summer and has courted attention from the likes of Torino and Fiorentina so far in the transfer window.

However, Arsenal will consider allowing him to leave on a temporary basis before next month’s transfer window as they look to create space in their squad for midfield arrivals - with Atletico’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar targeted.
