So, who wants to play Champions League football next season? Aside from Liverpool and Manchester City, that question is proving tricky for Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United of late.
Champions City and Liverpool remain locked in a tight title race, but the remaining two places in the Premier League top four are still up for grabs after a number of shocks over the Easter weekend.
Spurs beat Man City on away goals in midweek to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League, but their second trip to the Etihad in the space of four days ended in a 1-0 domestic defeat.
That result opened up the chance for Man Utd to take advantage, but the Red Devils remain sixth after a shocking 4-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.
With two of their rivals succumbing to defeats, Arsenal were then handed a golden opportunity to go third - but Unai Emery's Gunners duly lost 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace.
So attentions turned to Chelsea on Monday night.
With all three of their Champions League qualification rivals failing to secure a single point, Maurizio Sarri's Blues slipped up with a 2-2 home draw to Burnley.
The draw sent Chelsea into fourth place and level on points with third-placed Tottenham, but the Blues have now played a game more than Spurs, Arsenal and United.
Premier League top six as it stands
| Pos | Team | P | W | D | L | GD | Pts |
| 1 | Liverpool | 35 | 27 | 7 | 1 | 58 | 88 |
| 2 | Man City | 34 | 28 | 2 | 4 | 65 | 86 |
| 3 | Tottenham | 34 | 22 | 1 | 11 | 29 | 67 |
| 4 | Chelsea | 35 | 20 | 7 | 8 | 21 | 67 |
| 5 | Arsenal | 34 | 20 | 6 | 8 | 25 | 66 |
| 6 | Man Utd | 34 | 19 | 7 | 7 | 15 | 64 |
It is important to remember that a top-four finish is not the be all and end all for these clubs: Chelsea and Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if either of them wins the Europa League, while Tottenham could also qualify should they win this season's Champions League.
However, the race for a top-four finish could well go down to the final day at this rate as the pressure begins to tell.
