'Premier League teams will concede here' - Nathan Jones' endorsement of Leeds United's attack

Luton Town head coach Nathan Jones says Leeds United's attack will cause Premier League teams problems as he endorsed their promotion challenge.

The Hatters claimed a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Tuesday evening and while Marcelo Bielsa's side failed to build on their victory over Fulham at the weekend, they did extend their lead at the top of the table to four points, ahead of West Brom's Wednesday night trip to Hillsborough.

Half-time substitute Harry Cornick opened the scoring on the counter five minutes after the break, with Stuart Dallas slotting home an equaliser on 63 miuntes.

Leeds pushed for a winner against the relegation-threatened Hatters, but came up short against Jones' defensive set-up, with the former Stoke boss quick to praise his side against a Premier League-ready attack.

"You need your keeper when you come to Elland Road," said when quizzed about Simon Sluga's performance in the visitors' goal. "No one's coming here and giving them a shutout.

"There will be Premier League sides that come here that will concede, I promise you that. Because these are a well drilled, excellent side with talent. I'm delighted and I’m proud of that point.

"Defensively I thought we were excellent," he added. "When you come to Leeds, who are the best side in the league for me and you know you're going to have defend well, have to get a bit lucky or ride your luck a little bit, but I thought we were excellent. I really, really did. The workrate, the desire to do well.

"Look, they keep coming at you, the commit bodies forward, they take chances. They're a good side, so it's a wonderful, wonderful performance, a wonderful point. Look, I'd have loved to have been a bit more fluid, would love to have been a little bit more controlling in the game but you have to respect the opposition, so I thought they gave me everything tonight.

"Tactically I thought we got it right. I would love to have kept another clean sheet, that would have been superb, but I'll take that point."

Jones' side currently prop up the Championship table, but he has a keen eye on the promotion race and believes Leeds have the edge over West Brom and Brentford behind them.

"I think the only thing that will stop Leeds going up are injuries," he continued. "A bit of bad luck. I don't mean to be disrespectful because West Brom are a wonderful side, very structured, they've got good players. Brentford are superb at the moment, coming strong in real form.

"So I think it's two from three. But for me there are two sides that can really hurt you, really rip you apart and that's Brentford and Leeds. And then West Brom are just a real good side, good players, well organised, good manager. So it's to from three reallly.

"I'm not a betting man, I'm a Christian, but if I was, I'd definitely put Leeds and one of the others."
