Harshly omitted from France Football's 30-man Ballon d'Or shortlist, Mendy made sure to give people a reminder of his qualities on Saturday evening as he almost single-handedly ensured Chelsea left Brentford with three points.
Ben Chilwell's strike late in the first half gave the Blues their crucial goal but it was their Senegalese goalkeeper who rescued them on six separated occasions.
His finest save came from Christian Norgaard in the 93rd minute, when the Danish midfielder acrobatically shot towards goal and forced Mendy into a fingertip stop.
The 29-year-old certainly earned his money this weekend.
Joao Cancelo
Following his rough start to life in the Premier League during 2019-20, Cancelo has become arguably the best right-back in the division - Trent Alexander-Arnold permitting, of course.
The Portuguese was at his dynamic best as City dispatched Burnley 2-0 at the Etihad, making one key pass, winning six duels and firing off three shots.
Cancelo is now pivotal to Pep Guardiola's side - whether it be on the left or right of the back line - and Saturday showed why.
Mohamed Salisu
Southampton's clean sheets have came rather unexpectedly this season, with their two previous shutouts coming against Manchester City and West Ham.
When Leeds came to the south coast, though, Salisu and co stood firm against Marcelo Bielsa's relentless attack, shining alongside partner Jan Bednarek.
The 22-year-old won a whopping eight duels and managed six accurate long balls, with two successful dribbles and one chance created to boot.
Although Ralph Hasenhuttl with still be working on the Saints' defence, centre-back Jack Stephens will find it tough to back in the rearguard when he returns from injury next year.
Angelo Ogbonna
Defender, goal, clean sheet away from home? Not much more needs to be said.
But Ogbonna deserves plaudits for his vital intervention as David Moyes came away from Goodison Park with three points as West Ham manager.
His 33-year-old defender scored the goal in the 74th minute to cap a solid display which included a 94% passing accuracy from the Italian, not to be sniffed at in any fixture.
But going to Everton and winning is no easy feat, and he is not the last Irons player in this XI.
Demitrios Giannoulis
Celebrating his 26th birthday on Sunday, Greek left-back Giannoulis would be quite pleased with himself following his performance the afternoon before.
He created two chances as Norwich earned a point and kept their second successive clean sheet against Brighton.
Although Daniel Farke's side are faltering going forward, their defence seems to be clicking and has helped them put some points on the board despite being winless.
And if Josh Sargent had finished his open-goal opportunity, maybe Giannoulis would have had a win to party with.
Bernardo Silva
On top form, there are not many finer players to watch than Bernardo.
Cancelo's compatriot was the star of the City show on Saturday thanks to a dazzling showing.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring after 12 minutes before creating three chances in the victory and receiving a standing ovation when he was substituted off.
Picking up where he left off prior to the international break, Bernardo is showing his importance in east Manchester, having been tipped to depart in the transfer window.
Declan Rice
Like Ogbonna, captain Rice played a key part in West Ham's win on Merseyside.
The 22-year-old was everywhere against Everton as he completed the most dribbles and passes in the match.
Alongside partner Tomas Soucek, Rice's mature displays have been integral to the Irons' reemergence as a top-half team under Moyes.
Crucial for club and country, the young leader's stock is only rising.
John McGinn
Unfortunate to be on the losing side when Wolves came to Villa Park, McGinn set up to team-mate Danny Ings for the opener before doubling their lead after half-time.
Produces a stellar attacking performance that saw him create a phenomenal five chances and register four key passes, the Scot also showed his defensive qualities by putting up a game-high three tackles.
However, he was unable to prevent Dean Smith and co from succumbing to three goals in the final 15 minutes as their rivals secured a sensational late win.

Mohamed Salah
What more needs to be said?
Salah, in the eyes of Jurgen Klopp and many others, is the best player on the planet right now.
His sublime goal against Watford made it two spectacular goals this month following his Lionel Messi-esque effort against title rivals City.
Not to mention, the 29-year-old laid Sadio Mane in to open the scoring at Vicarage Road with a superb pass that bent round the Hornets back line and found his fellow forward.
Late Ballon d'Or shout, anyone?
Harry Kane
It may have taken eight games for Kane to get on a Premier League scoresheet, but Kane is back in the goals for Tottenham.
His cool finish over Karl Darlow completed a first-half comeback as Spurs could have cruised to victory over newly-owned Newcastle, backed by a deafening crowd.
The 28-year-old also assisted Heung-min Son's goal to get his season truly up and running after a failed summer transfer saga.
Special mentions must go to joint Man of the Match men Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon, though, who played their part in helping a fan who was taken ill during the game and forced the match to be suspended for 25 minutes.
Dier helped get a defibrillator across the pitch after Reguilon had alerted Andre Marriner to the commotion in the crowd.
Classy stuff.
Roberto Firmino
It may have been a hat-trick of tap-ins but Firmino three-goal haul at Watford ensures his place in our team.
As well as an assist for Salah, the Brazilian dispatched three chance with ease as Klopp and co went top of the league for a few hours.
Although tougher tests are to come, there are whispers that Liverpool's front three could be back and going off the trio's display on Saturday, it would be hard to disagree.
