Ahead of this weekend, all eyes were on Stamford Bridge for Michael Carrick's first Premier League game after taking over as Manchester United's caretaker manager.
However, as United neutralised league leaders Chelsea to secure a 1-1 draw, others delivered impressive victories to see the top of the table become even tighter ahead of a busy December schedule.
Manchester City looked comfortable in a 2-1 victory over a tough West Ham team, but they only have one representative in this side.
Liverpool and Leicester were the most impressive clubs in an attacking sense, each hitting four at home, while Arsenal, Aston Villa and Brentford were also victorious.
There were also two goalless draws, at Norwich and Brighton, while the game between Burnley and Tottenham fell victim to the weather.
Mirror Football's Premier League team of the Week for matchday 13 is dominated by Liverpool and Leicester stars, with one of two players unfortunate to miss out.
Who would you have in your Premier League team of the week? Let us know in the comments section

Alvaro Fernandez (Brentford)
Fernandez has had a difficult start to Premier League life after stepping in for the injured David Raya, but he earned his stripes in Brentford's win over Everton.
The Spaniard left the field having secured his first clean sheet in the competition, with a save from Salomon Rondon the pick of the bunch, arriving just moments after Ivan Toney's penalty put the Bees ahead.
There were other contenders for the pick, with David de Gea busy for Man Utd and Leeds' Illan Meslier helping his team secure a valuable point, but Fernandez gets the nod.
Tariq Lamptey (Brighton)
In the discussion of England's right-back options, Lamptey's name has fallen down the pecking order following a long-term injury.
However, after playing his way back into form - and being given time and space to do so by Graham Potter - the 21-year-old has looked every bit the star he seemed poised to turn into after moving to the south coast from Chelsea.
He was everywhere during the draw with Leeds, often playing as a quasi-winger, and just gets the nod ahead of the similarly impressive Arsenal right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
Van Dijk has often been known to pop up with a goal at the right end as well as remaining unbeatable at the back, but he had gone until late November without netting for Liverpool.
The way he put away his effort against former club Southampton made it look like he was unleashing some pent-up energy, absolutely lashing the ball beyond Alex McCarthy, but he wouldn't make it into this selection for a goal alone.
Van Dijk also dealt comfortably with what might have been the daunting prospect of a Saints front three including three proper strikers, forcing Ralph Hasenhuttl into a double change at the break.
Eric Bailly (Man Utd)

Bailly was handed an unfamiliar left centre-back role by Carrick at Stamford Bridge, but looked like a man more than comfortable in the position.
The Ivorian had scored an own goal on his only other Premier League start this season, something which saw him withdrawn early in the defeat to Manchester City, so there were question marks over how he would deal with a fluid Chelsea attack.
It might have been a different story with Romelu Lukaku fit enough to play more than 10 minutes, but Bailly stuck to his task well.
Andy Robertson (Liverpool)
Much of this season has seen a focus on the creative power of Trent Alexander-Arnold, but it's always good to get a reminder of what Liverpool can do on the other side of their back four.
Robertson has seen Kostas Tsimikas provide him with competition for a starting place, but his assist for Diogo Jota's early opener demonstrated why the Scot is such a big threat.
There were other impressive performers at left-back, not least Brighton's steadily impressive Marc Cucurella, but Robertson gets the nod.
Ilkay Gundogan (Man City)

Sunday's meeting with West Ham United looked tricky even before the snow began falling, but Manchester City delivered the kind of controlled performance that should worry their title rivals.
Ilkay Gundogan was the stand-out performer, scoring the opener for Pep Guardiola's side and providing for Fernandinho to make sure of the victory late on.
City pulled away from the chasing pack in December and January last season, and they are starting to look ominous.
John McGinn (Aston Villa)
Aston Villa have looked revitalised by the arrival of Steven Gerrard, and John McGinn looks like someone who will enjoy playing under the new manager.
Victory at Crystal Palace continued the perfect start under Gerrard, and McGinn's clincher was the kind of confident finish we've come to know him for.
There were some other impressive midfield performances elsewhere in the league, with Man Utd's Fred standing out before blotting his copybook with a failed late chip after an otherwise strong display, but the Scotland international was a standout.

Thiago (Liverpool)
Sometimes it can take a player a while to hit top gear after an injury, and Liverpool fans will hope they're finally seeing the real Thiago.
There's no matching the sweet strike in the win over Porto, but something has to be said for the way the Spain midfielder glided through the Southampton defence before finding the net.
After missing the former Bayern Munich man's impact for much of last season, the sight of Thiago in this kind of form will delight those who watch him every week.
James Maddison (Leicester City)

Maddison hasn't shown the kind of consistency that brought him to the fore earlier in his Leicester career, but there's no faulting his performance in the win over Watford.
His goal against the Hornets was only his third of the season - it took him just 10 games to reach that number last term - and while it wasn't as accomplished as the strike against Legia Warsaw, he still had to put it away.
The attacking midfielder also created two goals for teammate Jamie Vardy, ensuring it was the first time he has both scored and assisted in the same Premier League game.
Diogo Jota (Liverpool)
When Liverpool lose Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations, they'll need the likes of Jota to step up.
His performance against Southampton will be a huge encouragement, then, with the Portugal international netting twice while his fellow forwards drew a blank.
There's an honourable mention here for Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, who took his goal well, but Jota's double gives him the upper hand.
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

While Leicester continued to languish in the bottom half before Sunday's victory, Vardy remains a threat in front of goal.
All nine of the 34-year-old's goals this season have come in the Premier League, with only Salah scoring more in the competition.
Every August, there are questions over whether this will finally be the season where the former Fleetwood Town striker slows down. The answer, as ever, is 'ask again next year'.
