Premier League gameweek 18 kicked off in fairly muted fashion on Saturday, with six games across the course of the weekend now called off due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.
Manchester United versus Brighton, Southampton’s match with Brentford, Watford’s game against Crystal Palace, and West Ham versus Norwich were all postponed prior to Saturday, while Aston Villa’s meeting with Burnley was called off just hours before kick-off.
That left Arsenal’s trip to Leeds as Saturday,s only fixture, with the Gunners running out 4-1 winners.
Everton’s Sunday lunchtime clash against Leicester is also off following the Foxes’ outbreak.
Manchester City ensured they’ll be top for Christmas by beating Newcastle on Sunday but Chelsea lost further ground as they were held by Wolves.
Liverpool and Tottenham rounded off the truncated weekend of action with a thrilling 2-2 draw in the final top-flight contest before Christmas.
