Manchester United failed to bounce back from a shock 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend, drawing 1-1 with 10-man Southampton in Saturday's early kick-off.
Jurgen Klopp's side were runners-up to Manchester City last term, but have started the 2019-20 campaign with three wins out of three - including last weekend's 3-1 Anfield victory over Arsenal.
Liverpool face a trip to Burnley in Saturday's late kick-off, but not before champions Man City leapfrogged them by beating Brighton.
Fresh from their win at Old Trafford, Palace scored their first goal at Selhurst Park for the season to beat 10-man Aston Villa while Sebastien Haller scored again for West Ham as Norwich were beaten.
The tie of the weekend, however, is Sunday's north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal, with the fierce rivals both needing to recover after defeats last weekend.
