Premier League supercomputer predicts final table with good news for Man Utd but not for Man City

Premier League football returns his week with all of the final 92 matches televised on live TV.

When the action finally resume, it will have been three months since the campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus crisis and there is a very short timeframe for the season to be concluded.

Renowned data analysts FiveThirtyEight have assessed the remaining fixtures and crunched the data to predict how the final rankings will look - and it’s great news for Leicester, Chelsea and potentially Manchester United.

Manchester City’s appeal against a two-year ban from UEFA competitions was heard last week with a decision expected in July. If upheld, fifth-place spot could secure Champions League football - which would benefit United, according to these predictions.

There would be even more gutting news for Blues fans if the prediction does come to pass, as it would see Liverpool beat their record Premier League points total by a single point on their way to lifting the trophy for the first time.

At the other end of the table, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich are predicted to suffer relegation to the Championship, with West Ham, Watford and Brighton narrowly avoiding the drop.
