Premier League strike duo join Dwight Gayle on Nottingham Forest's striker shortlist

Southampton striker Che Adams is on Nottingham Forest’s list of possible January recruits, according to reports.

The former Birmingham City frontman has struggled to force his way into Ralf Hasenhuttl’s struggling Saints side this term following his £15m move to the south coast in the summer and could therefore seek regular football in the New Year.

According to a report in the Athletic, Forest are considering a move for the 23-year-old ex-Ilkeston protégé, as Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his attacking ranks when the transfer window opens on Wednesday week.

Forest are desperate to add firepower to their ranks having become heavily reliant on leading marksman Lewis Grabban.

Grabban has netted 10 times this term, with eight of those coming away from the City Ground and with only Rafa Mir as back-up, the Reds are keen to take the pressure off the 31-year-old.

Mir has yet to find the net since making a summer loan move from Wolves, having largely been restricted to cameo appearances off the bench.

Dwight Gayle is another striker Forest are keeping tabs on, though they are likely to face stern competition for his signature should Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce sanction his departure from St James’ Park.

Gayle was prolific for West Brom last term while on loan from Tyneside, and the Baggies retain an interest in the 29-year-old who could command a fee and extensive wages.

The Athletic also claim the Reds are keeping tabs on Brighton striker Glenn Murray, with the experienced 36-year-old having found his opportunities limited in recent weeks under Graham Potter.
