Premier League stars warned not to copy Sead Kolasinac after Arsenal star fought off knife-wielding thugs

Premier League stars are being warned NOT to copy brave Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac who fought off knife-wielding attackers.

The PFA have backed the Bosnia international defender but fear others attempting to react in the same way might not be so lucky.

Deputy chief executive Bobby Barnes said: “No possess are worth risking your life for. These things can be replaced. Better to put your safety first.”

Both Kolasinac and team-mate Mesut Ozil, who had been traveling with him, are understood to be fine and were due to train with their team-mates on Friday.

Arsenal are reviewing their security for their playing staff as a matter of urgency following the incident.

In a chilling video, full-back Kolasinac is seen fighting off two men who are wielding knives while Ozil runs into a nearby restaurent.

Kolasinac, 26, is seen jumping out of his vehicle to confront the masked men who had pulled alongside the car on mopeds.

The robbers are understood to have been chasing the two players for around a mile.

Arsenal said in a statement: "We have been in contact with both players and they are fine."

The flashpoint comes three years after then-West Ham striker Andy Carroll was attacked as he drove home from training. His assailant was tracked down and caught back then.

Bournemouth ’s Jordan Ibe was also among a string of players targeted at the time. It sparked a Premier League-wide review of players’ safety and is set to do so again.
