Premier League star says Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is 'getting closer' to Lionel Messi

Leicester City defender James Justin believes the debate over who is the better player out of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is getting closer.

Despite having a poor start to 2022, Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in 27 appearances for Manchester United this campaign.

Meanwhile, Messi has not adapted to life in Ligue 1 as many expected him to. The 34-year-old has scored seven goals in 21 appearances for PSG, with just two of those coming in the league.

Taking part in the game 'In That Order' on the UMM YouTube channel, Justin was asked to rank three different players.

When tasked with ranking his Foxes teammate Jamie Vardy, Ronaldo and Messi, he confirmed the latter would be number one followed closely by Ronaldo.

Clarifying his stance, the 23-year-old said: "Number one is Messi. But the race between Ronaldo and Messi recently has got closer because now that I'm a pro, I respect everything Ronaldo does off the pitch as well as on the pitch. He's just a bags man."

Ronaldo and United return to action on Sunday when they face Leeds in the Premier League at Elland Road.
