Premier League side reportedly make transfer decision over Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash

West Ham United’s hopes of prizing Matty Cash away from Nottingham Forest this summer hinge on boss David Moyes being able to move out some of the club’s highest earners.

That’s according to media reports this weekend, which suggest the Premier League side will not rival Sheffield United or Burnley for the Forest star as it stands, until they’ve shaved their hefty wage bill at the Olympic Stadium.

According to Football Insider, a West Ham source says the Iron are ‘holding fire’ on a making a formal move for Cash, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday.

Cash has been a revelation for Forest this term, with Sabri Lamouchi opting to utilise him at right-back and it’s that sparkling form which has alerted a number of clubs, including AC Milan.

Despite losing defenders Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia this summer, Moyes knows he must free up yet more space on his wage bill, if he’s to add numbers to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season which starts on September 12.

The Hammers are trying to offload Brazilian forward Felipe Anderson, but so far attempts to tempt Lazio and Napoli into doing a deal have failed.

Anderson was the club’s record £36m signing two years ago, but now the club are keen to try and move the 27-year-old on and use some of that money to fund a bid for Cash.
