Premier League side 'make approach' to sign key Brugge star before Rangers clash

Crystal Palace have reportedly made an approach to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge ahead of their crucial Champions League play-off with Rangers

The forward scored 21 goals and assisted 14 in 51 appearances for his side last season.

Tzolis has started this campaign in fine fettle, too, contributing to five goals in seven games so far.

Palace have made an approach to sign the 23-year-old from Brugge, claims The Athletic, as they seek a replacement for Eberechi Eze, who is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.

It is said that their first bid has been knocked back, although they plan to return to the table with another offer. They are also speaking to the player's representatives.

Tzolis played 90 minutes as Brugge prepared for their trip to Ibrox with a late 1-0 win over Zulte Waregem in the Belgian top flight on Saturday.

"That gives us confidence for the match at Rangers," said midfielder Brandon Mechele of his side's victory.

"The games are coming quickly, we just need to get into that rhythm. Everyone is getting back into their best form, so that is good.

"But we still need to work on some of our mistakes and the tempo needs to be a bit higher, but our game is improving.

"It was a great victory, but we know we need to be better this week in Glasgow."
