Premier League sends a message to Leeds United fans hoping for Man Utd trip

Leeds United will have supporters at Old Trafford for the season opener with Manchester United if the Premier League gets its way.

Last term finished with limited capacities across the final two matchdays of the campaign, with no visiting fans permitted from away clubs.

With the news it will be a trip to bitter rivals Manchester United on the opening weekend, Whites fans are even more anxious to ensure they can get into matches from the start.

Boris Johnson has made it clear he expects to lift effectively all restrictions from daily life on July 19, approximately one month before the season starts.

It remains to be seen how stadiums and public gatherings are affected, but the division has made it clear it will push for full stadiums with away fans from the first weekend.

A Premier League statement said: “The Premier League and its clubs are committed to the ambition of having full stadiums, including away supporters, from the start of the season, and will continue to work closely with Government and all relevant authorities, ensuring operational plans are in place ready to safely welcome supporters back to stadiums in August.”
