Sky Sports and BT Sport have been warned they will be barred from interview access by the Premier League if they ask any questions about when the current season will resume.
All top-flight fixtures are on hold indefinitely amid the coronavirus crisis, with league chiefs still unsure if or when the campaign will be completed.
Premier League clubs have agreed to help broadcasters through the lull in football action by providing managers and players for regular interviews.
But broadcasters are not allowed to ask questions relating to the season's prospective return date, as specified in guidelines from the Premier League.
The Mail published a copy of an email which had been sent between staff at Sky Sports.
The email read: "It’s clear that the Premier League will revoke access if we do not stick to these guidelines.
"The interviews have been agreed on the grounds that they are part of the football contract; access is intended to be fun and relaxed.
"Clubs are extremely nervous about putting anyone up [for interview] at the moment so we must stick to the following processes.
"We should avoid 'news' interviews as much as possible."
Both Sky and BT are both in danger of losing millions of pounds-worth of revenue due to the postponement of matches.
Sky's package for this season cost over £1billion, while BT's topped £325m.
But it is likely both broadcasters will be able to screen the action if it does eventually return, with suggestions all matches could be played behind closed doors.
The FA have reportedly offered the Premier League use of Wembley Stadium and St. Georges Park training facility to help try and complete the season.
Up to four matches a day could be played on the hallowed Wembley turf due to the tight time frame, with the suggestion players will be stationed under quarantine at St. Georges Park for the duration.
