Premier League's top 10 fastest players this season: Adama Traore misses out on No.1 spot

The Premier League has some of the world's fastest players.

But ranking them in order is difficult, given they often run with the ball at their feet, and sometimes don't have the opportunity to hit top speed in a game.

Adama Traore is known for his incredible pace and power, but interestingly the Wolves forward just missed out on the top spot.

Here we look at the top 10 Premier League speed demons and see who clocked the fastest pace this campaign.

Coming in at number 10 is Manchester City's young midfielder Phil Foden.

The Englishman, who appeared with increasing regularity after the Premier League restart, clocked a top speed of 23.7mph.

Staying in Manchester, the number nine spot is occupied by United's Fred.

The Brazilian enjoyed a great season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was one of the first names on the team-sheet prior to Paul Pogba's return.

This season Fred hit a top speed of 23.17mph.

Moving far south and it is Shane Long at number eight.

The Southampton forward, who made 31 appearances in all competitions this campaign, may be 33 these days, but he can still put the pedal down when he needs to.

The Irishman clocked up a top speed of 23.21mph.

At number seven is Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who hit a top speed of 23.27mph this campaign.

The youngster has started to feature more regular for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta, and will likely improve upon his top speed next season.

Leicester City's Caglar Soyuncu occupies the number six spot.

The Turkey international clocked a top speed of 23.33mph this campaign, which is sensationally quick for a centre-back.

The next top speed clocked in the Premier League this season was 23.36mph.

But this was managed by three players.

The first of these was United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has started getting forward with more regularity in recent months.

Aston Villa forward Trezeguet clocked the same speed. And finally Manchester United's new kid on the block Mason Greenwood also hit 23.36mph.

Then there were two.

Coming in second, as aforementioned, is Wolves forward Traore, who hit 23.48mph.

The Spaniard is regarded by many to be the fastest man in football, and perhaps he is, but this season he failed to register the highest speed of any player in the league.

That accolade goes to the player at number one, Manchester City's blisteringly fast full-back Kyle Walker, who reached a top speed of 23.49mph this season.
