Premier League rumours: Man Utd man eyes Everton switch and ex-Liverpool star's surprise move

Sturridge at Kidsgrove!

Former Liverpool and England star Daniel Sturridge is training at Kidsgrove Athletic as he continues his search for a new club, StokeonTrentLive reports.

The 31-year-old striker left Trabzonspor in March and has served a four-month worldwide ban for breaching betting rules.

He has been linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace but, having spent lockdown in Los Angeles, is currently back at home near Congleton, where he went to school after joining Manchester City’s Academy as a teenager.

So most days he is popping in to use the facilities at the Autonet Insurance Stadium with a personal trainer.

“Yes, he’s signed a 12-month contract,” said Kidsgrove chairman Mick Fitzjohn with a chuckle.

“No, he’s coming down to keep himself fit and he’s working hard while he finds a new club.

“He comes down most days and he can let himself in. He lives locally and we don’t mind that. It’s a nice setup.

“I’ve been down there painting but we haven’t chucked him a brush just yet to help out.”

Brewster to sign?

Sheffield United's hopes of signing Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster have been boosted after the youngster did not feature in the Reds' Carabao Cup victory over Lincoln City on Thursday night.

A number of fringe players were given run-outs as Jurgen Klopp's men romped to a 7-2 win - but Brewster was not involved.

Asked about the situation at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp said: “We don’t really speak about transfer rumours.

“He wasn’t in the squad, right. You can make of it what you want.

"It’s nothing really to say, otherwise we have to talk constantly about these things and we don’t do that. So no news.”

Partey time

Atletico Madrid are reported to be closing in on a loan move for Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Gunners target Thomas Partey is not thought to be part of the negotiations, though, according to the Daily Mail.

The article states that Atletico want £45million for Partey - which is his current release clause.

The Spanish club are said to want Torreira on a straight loan deal.

However, Arsenal apparently want to sell the player - or strike a loan agreement with an obligation to buy.

Italian club Torino are also keen on Torreira, with a £22m deal reportedly being discussed.

Keeper target

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is said to be keen on a move to Everton.

The Times reports that the Toffees are eyeing a move for Romero, which would put pressure on current number one Jordan Pickford.

England international Pickford was at fault for both goals conceded in Everton's 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti is apparently hoping that more competition in the position could help improve the form of Pickford, who has been the undisputed first choice stopper since his £30million move from Sunderland in 2017.
