Premier League rumours: Man United respond to Sancho deadline, Liverpool dealt Thiago blow

Leeds United continue to plot their transfer business ahead of a return to the Premier League.

There has not been that much action in the transfer window so far this summer, with clubs waiting to make their first move.

Yet there are still plenty of rumours across the top division - here are the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

United respond to Sancho deadline

Manchester United are in no rush to meet Borussia Dortmund’s August 10 deadline to sign Jadon Sancho.

The English forward is a long-term target of the Old Trafford club but they are yet to get a deal over the line due to Dortmund’s high asking price.

Dortmund have set a deadline in order to allow manager Lucien Favre time to prepare for next season.

Yet the Manchester Evening News report that United are confident they can seal Sancho’s services after the deadline.

Dortmund are seeking £100m for the 20-year-old and, at that price, United feel they could convince the Bundesliga to sell after August 10.

Arteta contacts Rakitic

Le10 Sport claim that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken with Ivan Rakitic about a potential summer transfer from Barcelona.

The Croatia midfielder looks set to leave the Nou Camp this summer but his future is yet to be decided.

Rakitic, 32, has seen his time in Barca’s starting line-up diminished this summer and the club are at ease with seeing him leave.

In an attempt to convince him to move to the Emirates, Arteta is said to have spoken to Rakitic on the phone regarding his plans for the future.

Liverpool Thiago blow

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Thiago Alcantara, with Le10 Sport reporting that PSG are ready to match Bayern Munich’s value for the midfielder.

The midfielder had been widely tipped to switch to Anfield this summer with a lack of competition for his signature meaning the Reds were confident of taking Bayern down from their £27m price tag.

Yet PSG are now involved in the running and are preparing a bid that would match Bayern’s valuation of him.
