Premier League rumours: Arsenal eye £5m transfer, Manchester United make Maddison decision

The January transfer window is officially closed.

Sides up and down the country strengthened their squads for the second half of the campaign, but there's already one eye on the summer transfer window.

With that said, we take a close look at the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

Premier League transfer round-up: Arsenal sign Cedric Soares

Wolves plot Kalvin Phillips swoop

Wolverhampton Wanderers are plotting a summer move for Leeds United midfield star Kalvin Phillips, report the Express.

Phillips is considered by many to be the best central midfield operator in the Championship and was watched by England manager Gareth Southgate as recently as last month.

Phillips signed a new deal with Leeds back in September, with the contract understood to include a £20m-plus release clause, which Wolves could be willing to match to sign the 24-year-old.

Manchester United cool Maddison interest

Manchester United have toned down their interest in landing Leicester City midfielder James Maddison this summer.

Maddison has been a shining light for the Foxes this season, scoring six times in the Premier League, as well as claiming three assists.

The Express, however, are reporting that United have cooled their interest in the former Norwich City man, with Jack Grealish now understood to be United’s top target.

Arsenal eye up Gueye move

The Mail are reporting that Arsenal are tracking £5m-rated Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye, who is considered to be the next N’Golo Kante.

Gueye, 21, has excelled in Ligue 2 this season and is out-of-contract at the end of the season, meaning he could leave the French club.

Alongside the Gunners watching him are Sevilla, AC Milan and Udinese.
